Bungunyah Manor Resort

A warm welcome awaits you as you drive through the entrance gates of Historic “Bungunyah Manor Resort”.

"Timeless Bliss" Surrounded by national parks and rainforest, Bungunyah is located high on Tamborine Mountain, 550 metes above sea level with views to the Gold Coast. “Bungunyah”, aboriginal in origin, meaning ‘the tall safe house,’ was built in 1928 as a guest house during the hard days of depression, by Jim and Emily Franklin. Mary and Edmund Curtis (the first settlers on Tamborine) were the parents of Emily.

The house was built of timber from the “Curtis Timber Yard” as well as from the original ‘Syndicate House’ – the first recorded ‘Get Away from it All’ place founded by Brisbane businessmen. The solid timber panelling in the lounge room came from the syndicate house and was cut about 1880.

Entry Hall in classic Manor Style!

Additions to Bungunyah Manor were made in 1990, being a two-storey sandstone Manor House. The 16 guest room Manor House Hotel has an imposing entry where you are transported in time to a splendid Victorian Manor where chandeliers and mirrors reflect the wide sweeping staircase that leads to the upstairs suites while a grandfather clock chimes off the decades.
