Reflexology is an “alternative” medicine involving the physical act of applying pressure to the feet, hands or ears with the specific hand, thumb and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion. It is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands, with the premise that such work effects a physical change to the body.
The body is divided into ten equal vertical zones, five on the right and five on the left. Reflexology is a healing art of ancient origin. Although its origins are not well documented, there are reliefs on the walls of a sixth Dynasty Egyptian tomb 9Ca 2450 BC) that depict two seated men receiving massage on their hands and feet. It is thought to be of Greek origin.
Relexology can address your particular needs. Painful, congested, sluggish or overactyive states within the body can be normalised and balanced. Thousands of documented case studies from around the world have demonstrated the benefits for migraine, sinus, stomach / back / neck / shoulder / tendon pains, asthma, bowel problems and many more.
Reflexolgy is a relaxing therapy that works on many levels, soothing, calming, balancing and boosting your entire body. It is deeply relaxing, yet surprisingly energising – all part of its balancing capacity. You may feel you are being pampered during your refelxology session, but do not underestimate the powerful effects this treatment can have on your body systems.
A reflexology session lasts about an hour, depending on the age and state of your health. The number of sessions required depends on the condition being addressed, and your healing response.
